Import Restrictions

Senders should determine import restrictions from the country's authorities before posting:

• clothing, bedding etc., used, for sale
• coins, currency
• drugs and medicines
• franking machines
• fruit
• metals, raw precious
• military uniforms
• parasites and insect killers
• plants
• publications relating to sexual matters and birth control
• seeds.

An import permit is required for many goods. Plants, seeds and fruit require the approval of the Commissioner, Agriculture Department, Entebbe, Uganda. Before posting any item, senders should confirm that the addressee has any necessary permit.

Prohibited Items

In addition to items considered non-mailable matter, the following are prohibited:

• alcohols and spirits
• distilled beverages containing basic oils or noxious chemical substances
• flick knives
• lottery tickets and advertising
• shaving brushes, Japanese
• toy guns.

Commercial goods mailed to Uganda require an invoice. Mark the article INVOICE ENCLOSED. Some goods require a Certificate of Origin. Used clothing, bedding, and so on, require a Certificate of Disinfection. All delivery addresses must include a post office box number.
