Import Restrictions

Senders should determine import restrictions from the country's authorities before posting:

• alcoholic beverages
• animals and by-products
• chemicals, non-hazardous
• communication equipment
• computer components and parts
• drugs and medicines
• films
• foodstuffs
• grain samples
• industrial equipment
• liquids, non hazardous
• medical/dental samples
• parts, machine and electronic
• plants, roots, seeds, etc
• radio transmitters
• second-hand clothing
• telecommunication equipment
• toys
• weapons and ammunition.

Goods that require ministerial authorization include the following:

1. Pharamaceutical substances and saccharine and products derived from saccharine (Ministry of Health)

2. Radios, transmitters, receivers and other devices (Ministry of Post and Telecommunications)

3. Weapons, ammunition, fireworks and explosives (Ministry of Interior)

4. Plants, roots, bulbs, microbial cultures, buds, fruit, seeds and crates containing these products (Ministry of Agriculture)

5. Fiscal or postal stamps (Ministry of Post and Telecommunications)

6. Poisonous and toxic substances and drugs (Ministries of Agriculture, Industry and Health).

Prohibited Items

In addition to items considered non-mailable matter, the following are prohibited:

• books, printed matter, films, drawings or objects that are offensive to public law and order
• checks, Blank Stock
• credit Card Blanks
• diamonds
• essences for making wine
• foodstuffs harmful to public health
• ground Waterborne Transportation Services
• ice, in any form
• jewellery
• knives
• mining Equipment / Services
• parts, Aircraft / Automotive / Machine
• passports
• pharmaceuticals
• plants and seeds, infected
• postage stamps, items resembling
• roulette equipment and other apparatus for unlawful games
• satellites and their parts
• tobacco
• waterborne Parts.

The following documentation may be required:

1) Documento Unico (single document)

2) Bill of Lading

3) Commercial invoice

4) Packing List

5) Shipment documents verifying the right to import.

Plants and seeds mailed to Angola must include a Certificate of Origin. Other dutiable articles should include a Certificate of Origin to reduce customs clearance fees.

Any shipment of goods of value equal to or exceeding $ 1,000 requires the use of a clearing agent.
