Import Restrictions

Senders should determine import restrictions from the country's authorities before posting:

• alcoholic beverages
• commuication equipment
• computer components and parts
• fish and preserved fish
• fruit
• fats and vegetable oils
• salt
• tobacco
• tinned meat.

An import permit is required for many goods. Before posting any item, senders should confirm that the addressee has any necessary permit.

Cape Verde accepts valuables in insured items only.

Prohibited Items

In addition to items considered non-mailable matter, the following are prohibited:

• airline tickets, blank stock
• animal products
• antiques
• asbestos
• banknotes and other securities
• ceramic products
• credit cards, blank
• furs
• gold and silver
• food additives, artificial
• jewelry
• knives (except cutlery)
• labels resembling postage stamps
• liquor
• liquids non hazardous
• military equipment
• obscene material
• precious metals and stones
• pornography
• perishable biological substances
• pharmaceuticals
• publications of an immoral nature
• seeds / soils.
