Import Restrictions

Senders should determine import restrictions from the country's authorities before posting drugs, medicines, plants, or films. An import permit is required for many goods. Before posting any item, senders should confirm that the addressee has any necessary permit.

• building sand, crushed rock, gravel, peat and synthetic potting
• fish
• fumigating substances
• fruits and vegetables
• live animals
• meat
• motor vehicles
• plant and plant products
• petroleum
• pesticides
• prescription drugs and medicines
• tobacco products

Prohibited Items

In addition to items considered non-mailable matter, the following are prohibited:

• armaments and weapons of war
• controlled chemicals
• dairy products
• endangered Species
• foreign lottery materials
• gaming machines
• log and timber products from Liberia (wood-chips, poles, post, fence pickets, sheets, flooring, molding, pallet, tool handles, barrels, crates, tableware/kitchenware, shutters, blinds, cases/boxes/chests for jewellery and silverware, clothes hangers, clothespins, toothpicks, etc.)
• marine mammals
• obscence publications
• publications: “The Minimanual of the Urban Guerilla” and “Improvised Munitions, Black Book”
• radio or radar apparatus
• seditious publications
• soil.

Commercial goods mailed to Bermuda should include an invoice. British-made goods require a Certificate of Origin.

The following documents are required:

1. Commercial Invoice (full description of goods)

2. Customs Declaration

3. Packing List

4. Certficat of Origin

Commercial importers are required to register with the Bermuda Customs for a Trader Identification Number.

Licenses- Import licences are required for firearms, chemicals products, plants, vegetables, animals, and petroleum.
