Import Restrictions

Senders should determine import restrictions from the country's authorities before posting:

• animal feed
• animal products and subproducts
• commercial goods
• cultural and biological organism
• cut flowers
• fruits and vegetables
• grains (wheat, rice, corn)
• herbs
• fertilizers (organic, inorganic)
• legumes
• live plants
• lumber
• nurseru stock and cuttings
• nuts (peanuts, almonds)
• packing material (straw, hull, hay, stalk and stems)
• seeds
• soil (rocks, minerals)
• spices
• veterinary biological products.

Prohibited Items

In addition to items considered non-mailable matter, the following are prohibited:

• animals
• asbestos
• clothing and bedding, used
• coin or bullion, unless clearly intended as ornamental
• cosmetics
• daggers
• fruits and vegetables
• gambling devices
• ivory
• jewellery
• liquids non hazardous
• log and timber products from Liberia
• lottery tickets and advertising
• pharmaceuticals
• plants
• playing cards
• political Literature (of any kind)
• postcards, packets of, sent as printed papers
• pornography
• publications for resale
• rags
• saccharine and similar substances
• shaving brushes, Japanese origin
• subversive Material
• tobacco packed with other goods or sweetened with the leaves of other plants.

Import Permits

The importation of some foodstuffs, plant and plant materials and veterinary vaccines requires an import permit from the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and is subjected to inspection at the time of importation by quarantine inspectors from the Belize Agriculture and Health Authority (BAHA).

In addition, commercial goods mailed to Belize must include an invoice. British-made goods should include a Certificate of Origin.
