Import Restrictions
Senders should determine import restrictions from the country's authorities before posting any item except personal effects, newspapers and vaccines.
Newspapers or periodicals must not contain articles or advertisements relating to the treatment of venereal diseases.
Valuable items may only be sent by insured parcels or registered items. This includes such items as cell phones.
Import restrictions are strict and addressees face prosecution if senders do not comply.

In addition, an Import Duty Report Licence is required for all goods mailed to Nigeria, except personal effects, newspapers and vaccines. Before posting, senders should confirm that the addressee has the necessary licence.
Regulated products may require a Certificate of Conformity issued by an Independent Accredited Firm, such as Intertek and a SONCAP Certificate issued by SON.
A SONCAP Certificate (SC) may be required by Nigerian Customs Services for clearance of goods going into Nigeria.
